Officials death a loss: Karzai


KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24: The death of an Afghan minister and four colleagues in a plane crash near Karachi is a “major loss” to the country, President Hamid Karzai said on Monday.

Mr Karzai expressed “shock and deep sorrow” at a crash that killed Afghan Mines and Industry Minister Juma Mohammad Mohammadi and Farhad Ahad, the foreign ministry’s acting economic director.

The ministry’s planning director, Mohammad Amin Sadiq, and advisers Ahmad Latif Alumi and Rehmatullah Popal also died in the crash.—APP/AFP
