Four injured in blast

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Feb 24: Four persons including three army officers were seriously injured on Monday when a landmine exploded in the Chmalang area of Kohlu district, some 500km east of here.

Sources said the injured armymen including a colonel and two captains were rushed to CMH Quetta in a helicopter.

“Yes, three army officers and their driver were injured in a landmine blast near the Chmalang coal mines area,” a senior official of the Kohlu administration said while confirming the tragic incident late in the evening.

The sources said the officers, who were performing their duties in Frontier Corps of Balochistan, were going to Kohlu from Loralai in a land cruiser which hit a landmine “planted between the road linking Kohlu to Barkhan and Loralai”.

The three injured were identified as Col Ateequr Rehman, Captain Nadeem Ahmed and Captain Humdani while the name of driver could not be known.
