Thesis scam: QAU admin trying to hush up inquiry

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 24: The Quaid-i-Azam University administration is trying to hush up the inquiry report of the PhD thesis scam despite evidences have been provided to the inquiry committee, sources said.

The two-member inquiry committee comprised the dean of social sciences and the director of National Institute of Psychology.

“No report has been submitted to the vice-chancellor in this regard,” the sources said, adding that at a meeting of Advance Studies and Research Board on Monday, the vice-chancellor told the members that the inquiry committee had yet to complete the report.

The sources said, the alleged beneficiaries were employing pressure tactics to change the inquiry proceedings.

It may be recalled here that Advanced Studies and Research Board, in its 106th meeting on December 26, 2002, pointed out that the reference letter, submitted by a student of PhD Dr Shahbaz Kureshi, was not real.

It may also be recalled that Syed Mujawar Hussian Shah, the controller of examination, had been asked to go on leave after the thesis scam was unearthed.
