MITHI, Feb 24: A handicapped woman of the Bheel community, Poona Bai, has appealed to the government, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and the district administration, Tharparkar, to provide her justice and take strict action against the watchman of a government officer who raped her for two days and two nights in Mithi.

The 30-year-old woman, wife of Jago Bheel, resident of the Saleh Janjhi village, Mithi Tehsil, complained to a group of journalists on Sunday that both she and her husband were handicapped and they earned their livelihood by begging for alms.

She said that she and her husband came to Mithi about 10 days ago and lived in a Musafirkhana from where they were lured by a person who said that he was called Bhooro Bheel and would collect donations for them.

She said that the man claimed that he was the watchman of a high-ranking officer (DCO).

Narrating her ordeal, she said that Bhooro took her on a bicycle through various streets and bazaars of the town and collected between Rs2,000 and Rs3,000 from the people as charity for her but he did not give her a single paisa from it.

Her 60-year-old husband alleged that Bhooro raped his wife, but since he was kept away from her, he could not hear her cries for help.

They alleged that the accused had threatened them with dire consequences if they filed a case regarding the incident.
