Pacer Ata to appear before tribunal

LAHORE, Feb 23: Former Test medium-pacer, Ata-ur-Rehman, will appear before one-man tribunal headed by PCB general manager Zakir Khan on Monday.

The tribunal has been set up by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), to dispose of the requests of Ata and pacer Wasim Akram for waiving off penalties imposed on them by former Justice, Malik Muhammad Qayyum, after probing match-fixing charges levelled against some Pakistani cricketers.

Ata is facing a life ban while Wasim was imposed a penalty of Rs 300,000.

Wasim will appear before the tribunal after the World Cup.

Both Wasim and Ata had moved the court against the penalties. But the courts referred their petitions to PCB for final decision.
