ISLAMABAD, Feb 23: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has expressed his resolve to check corruption through vigilance, monitoring and follow-up.

After a briefing by National Accountability Bureau Chairman Munir Hafiez about the national anti-corruption strategy, the prime minister emphasized the need to minimize corruption through the preventive as well as enforcement approach.

He underlined the need to address the causes of corruption.

He extended his support for across the board accountability and lauded the efforts of NAB in this regard.

He stressed the importance for a monitoring and follow-up mechanism and said without it the policies would fail to be effectively implemented.

The prime minister asked the NAB chairman to prepare details of a two-day conference of the cabinet and formulate recommendations for minimizing corruption in line with the strategy.—APP
