NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 23: Hundreds of growers of Moria and Mahesar minors took out a procession in Kandiaro area on Sunday.

They were protesting over what they called water shortage in two waterways engineered by the executive engineer, Rohri division, and SDO, Kandiaro taluka, irrigation department.

The procession emerged from Chaniani village and the participants, after marching on the link road for two kilometres, reached Kamal Dero where some growers observed a token hunger strike.

Speaking on the occasion, leaders of the protesters, Zulfiqar Abro and Sher Mohammad, alleged that two water channels had dried up due to an engineered shortage of water.

They accused the XEN and SDO of selling water to the influential growers.

They said about 20,000 acres of land could not be cultivated due to unjust distribution of water.
