England beat Pakistan

CAPE TOWN, Feb 22: Pakistan crashed to a 112-run defeat against England in the World Cup Group ‘A’ match at Newlands on Saturday.

Only a last wicket stand of 54 between Saqlain Mushtaq and Shoaib Akhtar lifted the final total to 134 in 31 overs in response to England’s 246 for eight.

The defeat leaves Pakistan in a precarious position to qualify for Super Six. They are now languishing in fifth place in the group.
