PESHAWAR, Feb 20: Provincial law enforcement agencies have been directed to coordinate efforts to curb crimes.

The directions were issued on Tuesday at a meeting attended by Governor Iftikhar Hussain Shah and Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani, says a handout.

The high-level meeting, expressing dissatisfaction over the increasing rate of kidnapping in the province and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), decided to increase the number of policemen and to devise a proper mechanism for identifying criminals.

It also asked the police department and the Frontier Constabulary to come up with a concert security plan. It was decided that assistant political agents in the Frontier regions would be answerable to the respective DCOs.

The governor pointed out that there were no no-go areas and directed the officials concerned to expose those elements who were providing shelter to criminals.
