KARACHI: Leaking line creates water shortage

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 20: Water gushing out from an 8-inch dia pipeline has inundated a number of streets of Clifton’s Block 8, causing hindrance in the smooth flow of traffic, and inconvenience to pedestrians.

Residents of the affected locality complain that, although the pipeline started leaking on Saturday, the authorities concerned neither drained out the water from the affected streets nor did they repair the leaking pipeline, despite several complaints lodged with them.

They say the leakage has led to water shortage in the locality and is also causing damage to the streets where the water is still stagnant.

“In fact, a main street of Shadman Homes has been inundated to such an extent that pedestrians are unable to walk through it,” a perturbed resident of the locality said.

Meanwhile, an acute water shortage continues to persist in various parts of the sprawling townships of Baldia, Orangi and North Karachi.
