Aga Khan meets Kenya’s president


NAIROBI, Feb 20: The Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslims, met Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki here on Wednesday.

The two leaders held discussions covering implementation of previous articulated and new expansion plans for the agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Kenya specifically, and eastern Africa and the Indian Ocean region more generally. These include investments of 40 million dollars in the health sector and 30 million dollars in the education sector.

The Aga Khan later held separate meetings with various senior ministers with specific responsibilities in the social and economic development sectors.
