KARACHI, Feb 18: Architect Syed Ali Zafar Qadri, a senior controller of buildings in Karachi Building Control Authority was elected as chairman of the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners for the term 2003-2005 with a vast majority of votes.

The results were announced here on Tuesday by the PCATP’s election committee.

Mr Qadri bagged 276 votes as against 150 secured by his close rival Shah Misbah, a former DG KDA and 90 by architect Zaheer Alam (Punjab).

Syed Jawed Nazim Ali Shah was elected as vice-chairman (Architecture) and Islamuddin Siddiqi as vice-chairman (Town Planning).—APP
