Jamali voices concern over law and order

ISLAMABAD, Feb 17: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali on Monday expressed dissatisfaction with the law and order situation and directed that the interior ministry maintain peace and the rule of law, specially in Karachi.

In a meeting with some cabinet members the prime minister gave orders for the early arrest of the murders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s leader, Khalid bin Waleed who was killed in an ambush on Sunday evening in Karachi, an interior ministry official told Dawn.

The prime minister expressed his deep concern over the killing of the MQM leader and asked the Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat to gain control over such incidents. He also ordered the authorities concerned to apprehend those involved in the murder.

Mr Jamali stressed the need for constant vigilance, especially in Sindh.

Following the prime minister’s directives, the interior minister issued orders to the law enforcement agencies in Sindh to expedite their efforts to arrest the killers of the MQM leader.
