KIMBERLEY, Feb 16: Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis, though happy to open the account in the World Cup, believes that the matches against India and England would be key for them in their quest to make the Super Six stage.

Talking to reporters after the 171-run victory over Namibia, Waqar was satisfied with the team’s performance specially the batting although admitted that Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar made the task easier with outstanding pace bowling.

“I am pleased with our batting today. I am also not unduly worried over Inzamam-ul-Haq’s form. One good innings from him will make all the difference,” said the Pakistan captain.

Namibian skipper Deon Kotze agreed that his boys were overwhelmed specially by great fast bowlers, Wasim and Shoaib. “It is no disgrace to be bowled out by two class acts.”

He however urged the ICC to give more exposure to the teams like Namibia, Holland and Canada by giving them one-day status. “Look at the progress made by Zimbabwe and by granting one-day status to other countries will only increase the popularity and standard of other countries.”

Regarded as world’s fastest bowler Shoaib Akhtar who proved a handful for Namibian batsmen with his blistering pace declared that he was all focused to take on the Indians on March 1 at the Centurion Park. “I am eagerly awaiting the clash against India which is special for me. I am keen to make it a memorable one.”
