JI demo against US war move

LAHORE, Feb 16: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will organize a big protest demonstration against the United States war phobia and to show solidarity with innocent Iraqi people.

This was stated by MMA parliamentary leader and Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Qazi Husain Ahmad here on Sunday.

He said the venue and date of the demonstration would be decided after the return of alliance’s central leaders Maulana Fazlur Rahman and Maulana Samiul Haq from Saudi Arabia.

The MMA had not so far organized any big rally against impending attack on Iraq. It had held small demonstrations outside mosques on Jan 3.

The MMA leader termed millions’ marches in Europe against US administration’s war designs a symbol of hatred against attack. He said if the US and the UK believed in democratic values, they should respect the public opinion and avoid attacking Iraq.

Meanwhile, JI’s Punjab Amir Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, Naib Amirs Dr Muhammad Kamal, Khurshid Kanju, Gul Andaz Abbasi, Dr Wasim Akhtar and secretary-general Azhar Iqbal Ahsan have criticized increased in petroleum prices.

They feared that the step would cause price hike hitting the common man directly and indirectly, besides affecting the industrial and commercial sectors.

CONVENTION: The Punjab chapter of the Jamaat-i-Islami is organizing a one-day convention for its provincial, district and local office-bearers at Mansoora on Feb 23.

Qazi Husain Ahmad, Liaquat Baloch, Maulana Abdul Malik, Syed Munawwar Hasan and others will speak on the occasion.
