Okara to have 21km by-pass

OKARA, Feb 16: Defence minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal has announced construction of a 21km by-pass, a hospital and a new building for girls high school in the city.

He was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the district bar association at Quaid-i-Azam Hall here on Saturday.

He donated Rs500,000 to the DBA.

Earlier, DBA president Shaikh Najmus Saqib and secretary Amjad Pervez Chaudhry administrated the oath to the new office-bearers.

District and Sessions Judge Nasim Akhtar Khan, DCO Khalid Masood Chaudhry and MPA Malik Nazar Farid Khokhar also spoke on the occasion.

APP ADDS: In his speech on the occasion, the defence minister also announced the establishment of a Cadet College in Okara and said that Sui Gas would be supplied to the city within six months.

LAWYER ROBBED: A lawyer was deprived of his motorcycle by four highwaymen near Haveli Lakkha.

Sources said Advocate Noor Ahmad Wattoo and his cousin Imran were on their way to Haveli on their bike (VRE-3243). Near Farid Pur Sohag, they were intercepted by the armed robbers who forcibly snatched their bike and cash and fled the place.
