GUJRANWALA, Feb 16: People are facing problems in the investigation of their cases as half a dozen key posts of police officers, including the SP, have been lying vacant for the last three to nine months.
This was for the first time in Gujranwala that police officers on key posts had been transferred without inducting their substitutes, it was learnt here on Sunday.
The posts of additional SP, City ASP, Civil Line DSP, Gujranwala Saddar DSP, Naushera Virkan DSP and CIA DSP posts are lying vacant.
Most of the DSPs got themselves transferred when Malik Muhammad Iqbal and Saud Aziz were posted as DIG and SP, respectively, because both senior police officers were considered strict and hardworking.
Additional SP Rao Abdul Karim was transferred to Lahore, while Rai Muhammad Tahir had been posted in his place. But he could not resume his duty, and is reportedly trying to get his transfer order cancelled. However, SP (investigation) Ataullah Khan Niazi is also holding the charge of the additional SP temporarily.
The post of Civil Line DSP has been lying vacant for the last nine months since the transfer of Javed Jaskani. CIA DSP Saleem Butt, who was holding the additional charge of Civil Line DSP, has also been retired a few days back.
UPLIFT PROJECTS: The district government has allocated Rs5 million for the uplift projects in Kamoki union council No 156.
This was stated by district Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha while speaking at a public meeting in Kamoki on Sunday.
He said the district government would construct streets and roads besides providing gas and drinking water facilities to the residents.
The district government, he said, would provide better facilities to the residents of remote areas on priority basis.
Union Council Nazim Bashir Ahmad Bhopal, Naib Nazim Malik Fiaz Ahmad and other councillors thanked the district Nazim for extending his cooperation.
EXAMINATIONS: The middle standard and primary schools scholarship annual examinations will be held on Feb 26 and Feb 27, respectively.
This was stated by Executive District Officer (Education) Syed Sajjad Abid Jaffari here on Sunday.
He said students could collect their roll number slips from his office on Feb 20.
