PESHAWAR, Feb 16: An armed gang, which has been active for the last several months on the Gandao Road in Mohmand agency, has abducted a driver and his three colleagues at gunpoint near Khatikh Gando on Saturday.

According to reports, Naray, a notorious criminal and his gang abducted Malik Nawab Khan Atmerkhel and his three companions at gunpoint when they were headed for Peshawar from the agency.

The incident caused a wave of resentment amongst the Atmerkhel tribe of Mohmands and they demanded of the government to recover the abducted persons forthwith, otherwise the they would act on their own.

Noor Khan, a relative of Nawab Khan, said his uncle left his village Jaroobi for Peshawar to attend the wedding of a relative.

When he arrived near Khatikh Gandao, Naray and his armed men stopped his vehicle and robbed them before they were whisked away.

The residents had complained many times to the political agent’s office about highway robberies, but in vain, said Noor Khan.
