Hundreds slam imminent attack

VEHARI, Feb 15: Hundreds of people participated in a rally here on Saturday to protest against the possible US attack on Iraq.

Led by Advocate Mirza Ejaz Baig, the protesters raised slogans against the US president. They were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans like No War for Oil.

The rally started at district courts and ended at V Chowk, where Mr Baig, Shafiq Bahi and Nadeem Raza Bukhari made speeches criticising the government’s foreign policy. They asked the UN not to favour the US plans, saying that people all over the world wanted peace.

They also burnt the US flag on the occasion.

Heavy police contingents kept patrolling the city to prevent any untoward incident. However, the protesters dispersed peacefully. — Correspondent
