RAWALPINDI, Feb 14: An 80-year-old man committed suicide in Sahala, while two other persons died in separate road accidents during Eid days, police said.

In the first incident, Riaz Hussain Shah, a resident of Tarlai Kalan, was going to his in-laws’ house after offering Eid prayers when he jumped into a water-well along the roadside and drowned.

The police said the cause of the incident was being investigated, however, the old man was said to be mentally ill.

In the second incident, a man was killed after being run over by a car in Morgah on Friday.

According to the police, Kala Khan was crossing a road when hit a speeding car.

The police impounded the car and took the driver into custody, however, he was later released with the consent of the relatives of the deceased.

Similarly, an unidentified person, who appeared to be in his 30s, was run over by a passenger train, coming from Lahore, near Lohi Bhair, on Friday.

Meanwhile, the immigration authorities at Islamabad International Airport off loaded three passengers for travelling on fake documents, the authorities said on Friday.

Abdul Latif was off loaded from Toronto-bound flight PK-781 for travelling on photo-change British passport. He told the authorities that he had purchased the passport for Rs500,000 from an Lahore-based agent.

He further said he paid Rs100,000 to another agent in Islamabad to get him cleared through the airport.

Similarly, Abdul Majeed was off-loaded from Paris-bound flight PK-767 for travelling on fake Spanish Card, purchased from a Lahore-based agent, for Rs145,000, the authorities said.

Mohammad Saleem, real name Shahid Iqbal, was off-loaded from PK-785 to London for possessing a stolen British passport.

He told the authorities that he had purchased the passport for 4,500 pounds from an agent during his stay in the United Kingdom.
