PESHAWAR, Feb 14: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani said on Thursday that negligence in removing people’s grievances by the people at the helm of affairs would now be a thing or the past.
Talking to delegations that exchanged Eid greetings with him at Frontier House, he said the province had a people’s government. He said people had voted for the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal for the removal of injustice, restoration of the rule of law and end to social inequality.
He said his government would not go for ad hoc decisions as it would be a blow to the feelings, confidence and expectations that the people had pinned in the MMA government.
He said the elected representatives would find solutions to people’s problems. He said collective efforts and wisdom would be used for decision-making in this regard.
Mr Durrani said the process of development would continue but his government would not lose focus on its priority areas, that had been a source of people’s overwhelming mandate in favour of the MMA.
The chief minister said his government would punish those showing lethargy or lack of interest in the welfare of the people. Collective efforts would lead to success in all fields and that should be the spirit to work for achieving success, he said.
Under the new style of governance, he said, the people would be the rulers and government officials would be the servants of the masses.
He said minorities would enjoy equal status and facilities and they had been given representation in the Nifaz-i-Shariat Council.
He said the council was reviewing recommendations of the Islamic Ideological Council to mould the laws in accordance with Islamic injunctions and MPA Felix Innocent was its member.
He said his government was trying to give maximum incentives to the traders and industrialists that would lead the province towards sustained economic growth.
He called upon the traders and industrialists to avail the facilities being given by his government.
