India rules out talks with Pakistan

NEW DELHI, Feb 11: India’s Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha on Tuesday ruled out the possibility of talks with Pakistani leaders during the forthcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Malaysia.

Asked whether there was any possi-bility of talks between the leaders of the two countries during the Non-Alig-ned Movement summit, Sinha said, “No”, according to the Press Trust of India.

India’s foreign minister was in the eastern city of Ranchi when he gave his comment to reporters.

India and Pakistan are due to attend the NAM summit in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on Feb 20-25.

While Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has confirmed his participation, speculation continues over who will head the Pakistan delegation.

Press reports have variously named Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri.—AFP
