ISLAMABAD, Feb 11: No Pakistani pilgrim died in the stampede near Mina on Tuesday, joint secretary ministry of religious affairs, Azam Rathore said.

Talking to Dawn, the official said: “It is yet to be ascertained whether it was an stampede or a road accident.”

He said according to information received by the ministry of religious affairs from its camp at Mina, it was a bus accident.

“Our official at Mina, Asif Majeed, told us that it was a bus accident that took place on Tuesday evening, leaving several Bangladeshi pilgrims injured,” the official said.

He said the ministry’s official in Saudi Arabia did not give the exact number of the injured or the dead.

“We are in contact with our officials in Saudi Arabia to get more information about the incident,” he added.
