12 of a family injured in explosion

QUETTA, Feb 11: Twelve persons of a family, including eight children and two women, were injured when a gas cylinder exploded on Monday in their house at Sariab Road.

Police sources said that the incident occurred when a women of the family, wife of Saboor Ahmed, was cooking meal. As the cylinder went off with a bang, the fire spread across the house and injured other family members.

Soon after the explosion, some locals rushed to the spot and took the injured to civil hospital. A fire brigade team also reached in time and overcame the fire after the efforts of an hour.

Most of the victims received burn injuries, Dr Abdullah at the hospital said and added that condition of three was serious as they were hit by splinters of the exploded cylinder.

The injured were identified as Saboor Ahmed, 33; Abdul Ghafoor, 36; Bibi Sadia, 26; Zahra Bibi, 58; Shahrukh, 10; Shahrooz, 8; Rukhsar Bibi, 10; Fasiehuddin, 7; Bibi Sana, 3; Abdul Wahab, 3; Raheel Ahmed, 3, and one-year-old Ali Ahmed.
