HYDERABAD: Hunger strikes continue

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Feb 11: Different groups of protesters, seeking resolution of their problems, continued to observe token hunger strikes outside the press club here even on the eve of Eidul Azha on Tuesday.

A token hunger strike by over half a dozen employees of the Fateh Apparel and Fateh Weaving entered 54th day.

The leader of the employees action committee, Shafiquddin, told journalists that they were demanding payment of their dues.

He said that the workers would observe the Eid day as a protest day by continuing their hunger strike.

Meanwhile, a token hunger strike by Mannu Bheel entered 24th day on Tuesday.

He is protesting against the kidnapping of nine members of his family — including his parents, wife and children — allegedly by a landlord of Jhol, Sanghar district.

He appealed the authorities in the name of humanity to provide justice to him.

MIDWIFE: A midwife of Wapda power house, Jamshoro, Saira Bibi, also continued a token hunger strike on the 47th consecutive day on Tuesday.

She is protesting against the termination of her services.

She said that if she was not reinstated in service, she would continue to observe a token hunger strike for an indefinite period.
