PESHAWAR, Feb 10: President of a local contractors’ association, Abdus Sattar Khan Mohmand, was kidnapped apparently for ransom by unknown persons in the jurisdiction of Badhber police station on Sunday night.

Shahid Khan, son of Abdus Sattar told Dawn that his father was coming to his house in Pando area along with a companion Saleem in his car No IDK-6382. When they reached near Sorizai area, some unknown persons intercepted them and picked Abdus Sattar and escaped towards tribal areas.

Shahid said that he do not want to involve police in the affair as the kidnapper may harm Abdus Sattar. “The kidnappers have not contacted the family, but it is certain that Abdus Sattar has been kept somewhere in tribal area,” he added. The police have not yet registered an FIR.

Despite the strict measures taken by the police on the roads leading to tribal areas, kidnapping for ransom incidents have been increased in suburb of the city.

HELD: The city police on Monday arrested two car snatchers — Gulzada and Ehsanullah, residents of Charsadda — and recovered a truck.

Sources said that the two accused had snatched the truck from Abdul Aziz, son of Gul Nazir, on Charsadda Road when he was going to Shabqadar on Sunday.

APPEAL: A retired police official has appealed to the government to arrest the alleged killer of his son.

The retired hawaldar, Abdul Qayyum, a resident of Bara, Khyber Agency, said that his son Faiz Mohammad alias Qais was a student of first year, when he was picked up by the Khasadar force from Bara, from where he was shifted to Khyber House and later on, allegedly killed by the force on his refusal to accept the allegation, Qayyum maintained.

The secretary of Home and Tribal Affair, on his request, formed a probe committee headed by Ehsanul Haq. The committee completed its investigations in December last, he said.

He alleged that the committee was impartial as it failed to find any reason behind the murder of his son. He appealed to the government to again form a committee to probe the killing of his son.
