Teachers condemn shifting of varsity

PESHAWAR, Feb 10: The Engineering University Teachers Association has expressed concern over the shifting of the university from Peshawar to Mardan, and has asked for spending Rs40 million grant, on the Peshawar campus, which had been allocated for the abandoned project at Jalozai.

The demands were made through a unanimously adopted resolution at a meeting of the EUTA, held here on Monday under its president Siddique Akbar. It also passed a resolution condemning the NWFP governor’s announcement regarding the shifting of the university from Peshawar to Mardan.

Another resolution called for amendment to the University of Engineering and Technology Ordinance to declare the present UET premises as its permanent campus, and urged the government to spend Rs40 million amount, which had been originally allocated for the development of the Jalozai campus, on the development of the Peshawar campus, owing to the abandoning of the Jalozai project.
