SIALKOT, Feb 9: A villager was injured seriously as the border village of Mollancy in Chaprar Sector here came under fire from an Indian machine-gun position on Sunday.

According to official sources, Ansar Jawed (33) was standing outside his house when some bullets hit his left leg. He was admitted to the Sialkot CMH in critical condition.

On Sunday, the Indian security forces kept firing at Pakistani border villages in both Sialkot and Narowal districts using light and heavy machine guns. The affected sectors included Chhumb Joriyan, Bajwat, Chaprar, Jammu, Saamba, Akhnoor and Zafarwal-Shakargarh-Narowal.

Early Saturday morning, Pakistani security forces thwarted another Indian attempt at fencing on Sialkot working boundary’s Jammu and Zafarwal-Shakargarh-Narowal sectors.

Official sources added that two Indian soldiers were injured in retaliatory action of Pakistani security forces.

TWO DIE IN ACCIDENTS: Gujranwala-based lawyer Murtaza Kamal was crushed to death when his car collided with an overloaded tractor trolley on Pasrur Bypass in Daska.

The son of prominent lawyer Farrukh Mehmood was going from Sialkot to Gujranwala when the accident happened.

Meanwhile, Zafar Iqbal was killed while Shehbaz and Salamat Masih were killed when an overloaded bus collided with a tractor trolley near Ranjhai village on Sialkot-Daska-Gujranwala Road.

Daska police have registered the case.

KILLS WIFE: Father-of-three Tanveer Ahmed allegedly killed his wife, Shahida Perveen, over a domestic dispute using a sharp-edged weapon, in Ghutliyan village (Qila Kalarwala) of Pasrur Tehsil.

Police registered a case but arrested nobody.

DACOITY: Four unidentified men wearing police uniform stormed into the house of local landlord Chaudhry Nasar in village Dheedowali, made all the family members hostage at gunpoint and took away Rs250,000 in cash, gold, electrical appliances and other valuables late Saturday night, Daska police were told.

TEACHERS’ DEMANDS: Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) has demanded a raise for teachers in view of the sky-rocketing prices.

Talking to newsmen, Punjab PTU information secretary Abdul Rahsid Nagra urged the government to formulate a new transfer policy for teachers and new service structure for all the graduate teachers. He demanded equal salaries for teachers working under the provincial and federal government.
