Irfan and Hasan slam centuries


KARACHI, Feb 6: Sparkling match-winning centuries by Irfan Ali and Hasan Naqvi were the highlights of matches played in the Abdul Quddoos Sheikh Multinational Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday.

Irfan scored 135 off 78 balls with 16 fours and seven sixes in a an opening stand of 189 with Mohammad Javed (60) as Dawn Group easily defeated Bolan Bank by 78 runs.

Hasan Naqvi lashed nine sixes and six boundaries in making 117 to help Shell Pakistan beat State Bank in a high-scoring tie by seven wickets. Zohaib Khan contributed 113 (nine fours and five sixes) for the losers.

Dawn Group beat Bolan Bank by 78 runs.

DAWN GROUP 237-5 in 25 overs (Irfan Ali 135, Mohammad Javed 60; Syed Imran 2-34);

BOLAN BANK 159 in 24.4 overs (Mumtaz Ghazali 57, Mohammad Naeem 25; Imtiaz Iqbal 3-29, Sajid Khan 2-12, Zafar Iqbal 2-33).

Nissan Motors beat International Power by eight wickets.

INTERNATIONAL POWER 147 in 24.1 overs (Irfan Dalvi 63, Rehan Ahmed 43; Saud 3-32, Ijaz 2-22, Azhar Shah 2-28);
