Wapda remain invincible

LAHORE, Feb 5: Defending champions Wapda with 247 points has retained the title for the 10th consecutive time by winning the 52nd National Cycling Championship at the National Velodrome on Wednesday.

Railways with 117 points got the second position. Sindh with 32 points, NWFP 25, Balochistan 19 and Punjab 12 secured the remaining positions upto six. The top spot in the Olympic Team sprint was Wapda’s for the taking.

Zulifqar, Dilsher, Malik Mohammad Bashir and Shamsher Ali formed the Wapda team. Railways’s Asif Ali, Noor Alam, Muhammad Asif and Zafar Hussain took the second slot while Sindh remained third.

Following were the results: 72 kilometre Scratch Road Race: Zulifqar Ali (Wapda) one hours 57 minute 24 seconds, Dilsher Ali (Wapda), Muhammad Asif (Railways). Olympic Team Sprint: Wapda (Zulifqar Ali, Dilsher, Abdul Qadir), Railways, NWFP. Four kilometre Team Pursuit: Wapda (Zulifqar Ali, Dilsher Ali, Malik Muhammad Bashir, Shamsher Ali (Five minute 7.12 seconds), Railways, Sindh.
