LAHORE, Feb 5: Two goals by Arsalan Najib helped Peshawar Garrison beat Remounts 6-5 in the Quaid-i-Azam Gold Cup on Wednesday.

The match had to go into an extra sixth chukker, with widened goalposts, as score was tied 5-5 at the end fifth chukker.

Arsalan’s winner, however, eclipsed Haseeb Minhas’s hat trick which he registered in the second chukker.

The remaining one goal for Garrison was scored by Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana. For Remounts, Ahmad Khan and Khurshid Ahmed scored two goals each while Asif Zahoor chipped in a goal. Five goals by Sufi Amir and four by Pablo Bagnardi helped Master Paints to gain 14-5 lead against Askari Water at the completion of first five chukkers’ play of a 10-chukker match.

The remaining five chukkers will be played on Friday. Shah Qubilai Alam and his younger brother Shamyl scored three goals, each to complete the tally. For the losers, Samiullah scored three goals while Umar Sadik and Taimur Mawaz Khan a goal each.

Earlier on Tuesday, Eight goals by Guillerrno Cuitino enabled Sunday TV to beat Peshawar Garrison 13-5 in the opening match of the Championship.
