KARACHI, Feb 5: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammed Mahar on Wednesday deplored the inaction of the United Nations in implementing its resolutions on Kashmir during the last 55 years.

Speaking at a Kashmir Solidarity Day rally, organized by the city district government Karachi, he said that various UN resolutions had been implemented in other parts of the world in a quick succession and even troops were sent for their enforcement.

Mr Mahar called upon the international community to take action against the excesses and oppression being perpetuated against the people of Kashmir. He said Muslim countries should also raise their voice against the Indian atrocities in the valley.

The chief minister arrived at the venue leading a big rally, which was participated by a large number of schoolchildren, Town and union council Nazimeen and citizens.

The Town Nazimeen joined the main gathering, leading rallies taken out from their areas.

The chief minister said that on Feb 5 every year the nation pledged its resolve to stand by their Kashmiri brethren at the hour of trial. People of Pakistan look with concern at the state of oppression being perpetuated on the Kashmiris and the world should also take notice of the situation, he maintained.

Sindh Minister for Works and Services Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim urged the UN to fulfil its obligations or else lose its credibility.

City Nazim Naimatullah Khan said that the Indians and those supporting them should get the message of the people of Pakistan that Kashmir has to be merged with Pakistan one day under the subcontinent’s partition formula. “India cannot occupy the held valley with the support of its military might,” he added.

Naib City Nazim Tariq Hasan said that the people were fully prepared to give any sacrifice for the cause of Kashmir.—APP
