This was announced by a delegation of the KTI, led by its chairman Syed Irshad Hussain Bukhari, in a meeting with the transport minister, Adil Siddiqui.

It was stated that a formal announcement regarding this would be made at a press conference on February 6.

The statement said the token system for mini-buses and coaches has been done away with on the desire of the governor and the transport minister as well as in view of the wishes of the people.

It said the delegation in its meeting apprised the minister of the transporters’ demands, such as reduction in petroleum prices, compensation for burnt vehicles, permit of minibuses, heavy fines, repair of roads and elimination of encroachments, etc.

The KTI said that the minister gave a patient hearing to their problems and promised to help resolve the genuine problems of the transporters.—APP
