KARACHI: EU to give 39m euros for education


KARACHI, Feb 3: The European Union will provide a sum of 39 million euros for promotion of primary education in the province.

This was stated by adviser to the chief minister on finance and cooperatives, Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, after a meeting with the delegation of the European Commission, led by Mr Illka Uusitald, here on Monday. Minister for Planning and Development, Shoaib Bukhari, was also present.

Mr Shaikh said that out of the share of Sindh from the National Finance Commission Award, 50 per cent had been sought from the federal government so as to financially strengthen the province.

He referred to a unanimous resolution adopted in the Sindh Assembly regarding the NFC Award and said that its right share was essential for the development of the province which generated a significant share of the revenue for the country.

Mr Shaikh also apprised the delegation of the natural resources of the province. The delegation praised the role of the expatriate Pakistanis in different countries.—APP
