President, PM grieved over shuttle tragedy


ISLAMABAD, Feb 2: President Gen Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mr Zafarullah Khan Jamali have expressed condolences over loss of lives in the Columbia accident.

In his message to United States President Mr George W. Bush on Sunday, President Pervez Musharraf said: “I am deeply disturbed at the tragic news of the accident of space shuttle Columbia and the loss of the precious lives on board.

“Our condolences go out to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in the bloom of their lives, and to the American people whose aspirations and achievements they symbolized.”

JAMALI: Prime Minister Mr Zafarullah Khan Jamali expressed shock and grief over the accident of space shuttle Columbia.

In a message sent to the United States President, Mr George W. Bush, Mr Jamali said: “I am shocked to learn of the accident of space shuttle Columbia shortly before it was due to land. I am grieved at the loss of lives, so young and promising, and in their prime. I offer my deep condolences to the bereaved families, the American people and to you Mr President, at this moment of sorrow and mourning.”—APP
