Man booked for burning Holy Quran

HAFIZABAD, Feb 1: Police on Saturday booked a man, who was caught burning the Holy Quran leaves at Jalalpur Bhattian. Ghulam Muhammad Arain, a resident of Kotla Anantan village, was setting ablaze the Holy Quran leaves at his home.

His wife disrupted him and cried, managing to gather neighbours.

They rebuked him and asked him to stop decsecration. SP Saad Akhtar Bharwana came there and pledged to punish the accused.

MAP FEE APPROVED: The tehsil council at a session on Saturday approved contracts of map fee worth Rs250,000 for six months. Convener Haji Liaquat Ali also sanctioned construction of public toilets in pursuance of the Punjab government’s directives.

On Advocate Arif Amir’s resolution, the national highways officials demanded approval of Hafizabad’s linkage with motorway through Kot Sarwar interchange, which is closest to the motorway. Overcharging by public transporters was condemned by a show of hands.
