NADRA: The National Database and Registration Authority has issued over 900,000 computerized national identity cards in Sukkur and Larkana through eight registration offices.

This was stated by the director, NADRA office, Col Mohammad Latif, at a press briefing held here on Friday.

He said that the NADRA, Sukkur, had achieved 90 per cent efficiency as it had received one million applications this year.

Col Latif said that six swift registration centres were also established at Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Nawabshah, Ghotki, while others were being set up at Shikarpur and Naushahro Feroze.

Some 432 contract employees had been terminated on charges of corruption and embezzlement of card fees and many of them had been declared absconders, he said.

NADRA, he said, was planning to accelerate the registration procedure, and an announcement in this regard would be made after the approval of the Authority’s headquarters.

Col. Latif said that the local registration office had been re-located from the Military Road and was now housed at the Authority’s regional office, adding that it would help ease the problems faced by the people.
