HYDERABAD, Feb 1: The Nazim and all the 18 councillors of union council-1, Qasimabad, have withdrawn their resignation, following assurance by the Qasimabad taluka Nazim that problems of their area will be solved.
The decision to withdraw the resignations was taken at a monthly meeting of the union council, held here on Saturday.
The resignations were tendered in the last meeting of the UC with a notice that if the area problems were not solved, the resignations would be sent to the higher authorities.
The taluka Nazim, Noor Mohammad Shoro, assured the UC Nazim, Ali Nawaz Kurtiyo, that his complaints would be looked into and efforts would be made to redress grievances of residents of his union council.
Mr Shoro said that funds for Qasimabad taluka had been released and tenders had been floated for different development schemes that would be launched soon.
Mr Kurtiyo, in the last meeting of the Hyderabad District Council, complained that the civic bodies authorities did not pay heed to his calls for resolving problems of his area.
He pointed out that despite his repeated calls, an eight-inch sewerage line was being laid in his area though he had recommended an 18-inch line.
Mr Kurtiyo, who is also the convener of the HDA committee of the district council, presented his report, saying that the HDA and Wasa officials did not accede to the requests of the UC Nazims.
He deplored that the entire city of Hyderabad was facing sewerage problem.
