ILO official receives threatening e-mails

By A Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Jan 31: The Cyber Crime Unit and the newly- established Diplomatic Protection Department (DPD) of Islamabad police are trying to locate Sajjad Haider, who has allegedly sent more than one threatening e-mail message to the director of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Johennes Lokollo, in the federal capital.

However, the police sources told Dawn that the threatening messages were not related to terrorism or terrorist activities as is understood amidst prevailing conditions in the country as well as all over the world.

The threats are aimed at preventing the ILO from pressing its ongoing campaign against child labour in the country, especially in Sialkot and Lahore. Seemingly, the man, who is sending the e- mails, wants to disrupt ILO’s efforts to prevent child labour in these areas, the chief of the DPD told Dawn.

He said Johannes Lokollo, an Indonesian national, working in the federal capital as the director of ILO, has informed the DPD about receiving these threatening e-mail messages following which the Cyber Crime Unit was activated to trace the sender.

He was optimistic that the culprit will be arrested within a day or two.
