KARACHI: 3 drug traffickers convicted

KARACHI, Jan 31: The special anti-narcotics court, headed by Judge Ali Nawaz Pirzada, convicted three drug traffickers, including a Nigerian, and awarded them different terms of rigorous imprisonment.

The Nigerian, Paul Anayo, was sentenced to four years’ RI with a fine of Rs150,000 for carrying 1,030 gram heroin in his body cavity.

The convict would have to undergo an additional one year’s RI if he failed to pay the fine.

The drug trafficker was intercepted by the Anti-narcotics Force at the Jinnah Terminal of Quaid-i-Azam International Airport, when he was to leave for an African country.

He was sent to JPMC where he excreted 70 capsules, stuffed with the contraband drug, following a medical treatment.

The judge sentenced Saadullah to two and a half years’ RI with a fine of Rs50,000 for possessing a little over one kg charas. He would have to undergo an additional three months’ RI in case of default on payment of fine.

Mohammed Yasin was sentenced to two years’ RI with a fine of Rs30,000 for possessing 900 gram charas. He would have to undergo an additional three months’ RI if he failed to pay the fine.
