Taimur inspires PBG rout Nurpur

LAHORE, Jan 30: Seven goals by Taimur Malik, and two by Raja Sattar enabled President Body Guard to thrash Nurpur 10-1 1/2 in the Brig. R G Hyder Memorial Cup polo tournament on Thursday.

 Raja drew first blood in the first chukker, followed by a five-goal rally by Taimur till the end of the second chukker to make it 6-1/2.

The losers, with 1/2 goal handicap scored their only goal through Omar Shehbaz in the fourth chukker.

PBG  further extended the lead to 7-1/2 when Sattar struck his second, and the only goal of the third chukker.

In the fourth chukker Omer slammed his goal for the losers. Taimur completed his tally with two more goals while Mali Khan added a goal to end the match at 10- 1 1/2.

In another match of the day, Azhar Ali slammed four goals to  guide  Free Lancers to 7-4 1/2 win against Karachi Polo Club.

In the first chukker, Lancers scored two goals through Jamal Iftikhar and Azhar to make it 2 1/2-2 reducing KPC’s 2 1/2 goal handicap to 1/2 goal. KPC held on to the lead, as both teams scored a goal each in the second chukker. Omer Nazir struck  for  KPC. Azhar added his second goal for the winners. KPC led 3 1/2-3.

Lancers went ahead in the third chukker 5-4 1/2 scoring two more goals while KPC added a goal only. Azhar scored his third goal while Hussain Iftikhar his first. Ashfaq contributed a goal for KPC.

Azhar and Hussain completed the tally for the winners in the fourth chukker.
