Error-free scoring results systems for SAF Games

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Jan 30: Terming it as a “big event” in the history of Pakistan sports, the organisers of the 9th SAF Games Thursday formally launched the Results Management System (RMS) that will provide instant and error-free results of all the events.

Lt. Col Hammad Khalid, Director IT of the March 29-April 7 Games in Islamabad told journalists it was a big honour for him to be launching this venture. “It is a 100 per cent indigenous effort and no foreign assistance is involved,” he said.

Developed on latest and state of the art technology, the RMS, Khalid claimed was a system second to none. “It will provide multiple variations, medal positions, team standings, players profiles and a host of other features in an instant.”

“The results of all events of the 15 disciplines to be contested will be available at all venues including the ones in Rawalpindi and Wah and the Main Press Centre (MPC) in a matter of seconds.”

The system, Hammad explained had the ability to track and display the hierarchy position of points, medals tally etc at any point in time.

The new system was fully reliable and was tested during the recent National Athletics Championship in Lahore. “Our system was 100 per cent accurate,” Hammad said proudly.

As many as 130 student volunteers will be helping to run the RMS during the course of the Games with 130 computers and 80 laser printers being made available for the system’s efficient running.

“Netsol, Cybernet and the SAF Games organisers have worked hand in hand to develop this system which is capable of meeting all possible technological challenges posed by the games’ rules.”
