Rain washes out play

RAWALPINDI, Jan 30: The Quaid-i-Azam Trophy quarterfinal between PIA and Wapda was hit by rain on Thursday that washed out the entire third day’s play at Rawalpindi Stadium.

The match between Sargodha and Rawalpindi also saw no play at all at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar because of inclement weather.

A total of just 84 minutes of play was possible on Wednesday with Sargodha reaching 365 for three in their first innings.

In case of no further play or incomplete first innings of the teams batting second in these two fixtures, the semifinal places will be decided on net run rate, taking into account all matches played by respective sides.

Summarised scores:

*At Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi:

WAPDA 307 (Atiq-ur-Rehman 67, Hasan Adnan 61; Asif Mujtaba 4-74, Shoaib Malik 2-58, Mohammad Zahid 2-70);

PIA 141-2 (Yasir Hameed 49 not out, Asif Mujtaba 33 not out).

*At Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar:

SARGODHA 365-3 (Mohammad Hafeez 106, Majid Saeed 105 not out, Atiq Ahmed 83, Usman Arshad 35 not out; Shiraz Khalid 2-58) v RAWALPINDI.—Our Sports Reporter
