KARACHI, Jan 30: If the US is not prepared to change its policies detrimental to the interests of Pakistan, the latter should reverse its pro-US policy and play an effective role in alleviating the hardship faced by Pakistanis in and outside the country at the hands of the FBI and immigration officials.
Besides, the aggressive designs of the US government are aimed at occupying the vast natural resources of Iraq, in particular, and Muslim countries, in general. Under the emerging scenario, if Muslim rulers failed to realize the gravity of the situation, they would have to face the consequences of the disunity among them. This was the consensus that emerged at a seminar on “Whether the US is putting global peace in danger,” organized by the women’s wing of the Tehrik-i- Istiqlal, Sindh, here on Thursday.
The chairperson of the central women’s wing of the party, Ghazala Awan, said the global situation was grave as war clouds were looming large over the world horizon due to arbitrary policies of the West, led by the US, which always accorded priority to their petty interests and “trampled over the rights of smaller and weaker countries.”
She criticized the US immigration policy under which immigrants from 24 Muslim countries had to get themselves registered with the INS.
“Pakistan has fully been cooperating with the US in its war on terror, but the US is according shabby treatment to Pakistanis,” she added.
Rahila Tiwana, the deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly, said the US government had become a target of criticism the world over due to its ill- directed policies.
She termed the infighting and differences among Muslims as the main reason for their plight.
The president of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Sindh, Mrs Imtiaz, claimed that the sole superpower was out to destroy world peace in pursuance of its objective to control the resources of Muslim countries.
Sultana Ibrahim of the PML (Q), Musafra Jamal of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and the president of the Tehrik-i-Insaf women’s Wing, Asia Tariq, also spoke.— PPI
