KARACHI, Jan 30: Partially decomposed body of a young man was recovered from a stormwater drain in Mominabad on Thursday.
The police said the body of an unidentified young man, who was in his mid-30s, was recovered from a stormwater drain in Sector 4-F of Mominabad.
The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem. The police said the body bore torture marks and injury marks on the neck.
The body has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.
ROBBERY: Armed men robbed an expatriate Pakistani, Zahid Nazir, working in Dubai on Queens Road late Wednesday night.
Bandits got away with Rs300,000, two brief cases along with the taxi in which he was travelling.
The police said Zahid Nazir, who had returned from Dubai, hired a cab (PL-5954) to Sultanabad. Bandits intercepted him near Sultanabad and robbed him.
DOG-BITE CASES: Four children and a woman were bitten by a mad dog in New Karachi on Thursday.
The police said two sisters, Nisha, aged two, and Komal, aged three, Asrar, aged six, and Zaheer, aged 15, and a middleaged woman were bitten by a mad dog in Sector 5-F near Sindhi Hotel in New Karachi.
The injured were taken to Civil Hospital in Edhi ambulances.
FIR registered: An FIR has been lodged at Garden police station against a police official of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) for unlawfully detaining an innocent citizen, torturing and releasing him after extorting money.
The FIR was registered against Zafar Iqbal of the SIU on the orders of the DIG Investigations.
It was the first FIR against a police official under the new Police Order 2002, said a statement issued by Garden police station on Thursday.
