Narrow defeat for PAF

LAHORE, Jan 29: Sherwood beat Pakistan Air Force (PAF) 6-5 1/2 in the Brig R G Hyder memorial Cup Polo on Wednesday.

The airmen went ahead 3 1/2-1 at the end of first chukker as both teams scored a goal each. Tauheed who scored two goals for PAF struck his first while Maula Bakhsh, with three goals struck his first for Sherwood.

The losers added two more goals through Mohsin and Tauheed in the second chukker. Shehzad Aziz scored his first for Sherwood, to make it 5 1/2- 2 with PAF in lead.

Sherwood struck four  goals in the next two chukkers. Maula Bakhsh scored twice. Shehzad and Mir Shoaib scored once each.

Seven goals by Guillerno Cuitino, including a hat trick,  failed to clinch the lead for Samsung Blues as Shoes Inc went ahead 10 1/2-9 at the completion of first four chukkers of an eight chukker match of  the Aibak Cup.  

Besides Cuitino, the other scorers for Samsung were  Hissam Ali Hyder and Atif Yar Tiwana who added a goal each.

Samsung reduced the margin of handicap by scoring through Hissam and Cuitino in the first  chukker.

The losers scored twice in the second chukker Cuitino but Sattar’s hat trick helped Shoes to hold the lead 8 1/2-4.

In the third chukker, Cuitino managed to reduce the margin to 9 1/2-7, scoring two more goals and Atif Yar Tiwana  a  goal. Samiullah scored a goal for Shoes Inc.
