Punjab to undertake Rs3.5 billion project


RAWALPINDI, Jan 29: Punjab government will soon undertake a Rs3.5 billion project envisaging installation of tube wells in sweet water zones between rivers and branch canals across the province, official sources said on Wednesday.

The project will be financed by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The project was approved during a meeting held at the Economic Affairs Division during which the Punjab minister for housing and PHE Department, Syed Raza Ali Gillani, represented the Punjab government.

The officials of Wasa and Japanese government also attended the meeting.

Initially, 12 tube wells will be installed in Faisalabad City in the sweet water zones between river Chenab and Jhang branch canal, the sources added.—APP
