KARACHI, Jan 28: S.M. Naeem had to be at his best to overcome a dogged Jehangir Rashid in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 to enter the final of the Under-14 Westbury Open tennis championship played at Modern Club on Tuesday.
In a hotly contested encounter Naeem having won the first set lost the second and then rallied to clinch the deciding final set not before stretched to the limit by his battling opponent.
Ghulam Abbas was the other player to advance to the final when he demolished Ahmed Hassan 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinal of the Under-12 event.
Second seed Abbas also advanced to the next stage of the U-14 after another impressive victory in dumping Umer Khan 6-1. 6-1.
