PESHAWAR, Jan 28: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that the MMA leadership belonged to middle-class and it could better understand and feel problems faced by the people.
Talking to a representative delegation of Hangu at the Chief Minister’s secretariat here on Tuesday, Akram Durrani said that a unique policy of consulting concerned segments of society in accordance with the tenants of Islam had been adopted to resolve masses problems amicably. This process would ensure satisfaction of the masses as all such decisions and steps of the government would obviously depict aspirations of the people.
The chief minister said that success of the government in the NWFP was due to the support and endeavours of the people who gave a massive mandate to the MMA.
He said democracy suffered setbacks because of wrong decisions made on personal likes and dislikes in the past. He said his government would not repeat such mistakes neither would it follow wrong policies of the past.
Due share would be given to even opposition members of the provincial assembly in development schemes, he said.
Durrani said that the MMA had a crystal-clear manifesto to run the government affairs in an efficient manner. All the available resources would be judiciously utilized for completing welfare schemes. Corruption would be checked and judicious use of national exchequer would be ensured, he added.
He assured the delegation that all available resources were being exploited for the development of the NWFP. He said that his government was taking concrete steps to remove the sense of deprivation of the people.
The chief minister said that the government would leave no stone unturned for uprooting evils from society, including obscenity, vulgarity and other immoral practices. However, it was the need of the hour that people should cooperate with administration for this purpose, he added.
He said the government believed in active consultations with public representatives in resolving problems, ensuring welfare of the people.
In response to the demands presented by the members of the delegation, the chief minister said these would be sent to the departments concerned for their reports, after which steps would be taken.
The delegates thanked the chief minister for giving them a patience hearing and taking personal interest in resolution of their problems. They extended support in successful implementation of the government policies in the province.
Meanwhile, a representative delegation of Mera Kachori also called on the chief minister and apprised him of their problems.
Durrani assured them of resolution of these problems. He said the government was duty-bound to take solid steps for the collective welfare of the people.
He said that the matter of government lands in the province would be settled in accordance with requirements of natural justice and it would be ensured that no one could be deprived of his genuine rights. Proposals and recommendations of the concerned people would also be properly accommodated in this way, he added.
