KARACHI: Case against Lashkar men adjourned till 30th

KARACHI, Jan 28: The Anti-terrorism Court-5, headed by Haq Nawaz Baloch, on Tuesday adjourned the sectarian killing case against Akram Lahori, the self-styled chief of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, and two other accused till Jan 30 after recording statements of two eyewitnesses, Abid Razzak, a journalist, and Maulana Nazar Mehdi, a tutor of the Holy Quran.
The trial is being held inside the Central Prison.
The eyewitnesses deposed that they had seen the accused shooting their victim. Akram Lahori, Mohammed Azam and Ataullah are being tried for killing Dr Syed Aley Safdar Zaidi of Kidney Centre on March 4, 2002.
The doctor was on his way to the hospital from his Gizri residence when two motorcyclists opened fire at his car (ABU-495) as he stopped at a signal near Sultan Masjid. He died on the spot.
The two prosecution witnesses had also identified the three defendants before a judicial magistrate during an identification parades.
KIDNAPPING: The Anti-terrorism Court-3, headed by Arshad Noor Khan, put off the hearing of a kidnapping for ransom case till Wednesday.
The special public prosecutor, Naimat Ali Randhawa, examined four prosecution witnesses in the case. Two young men, Farhan and Shahzad, are being tried to kidnap a two-year-old girl on Nov 28 last year in the jurisdiction of the Rizvia Society police.
